The city of witches

From Maleventum to Beneventum, the city is also known as the "City of Witches" or more properly the "janare", under the pagan rites that Lombards held near the river on Sabato. The belief still remains in the popular tradition with songs and poems that recall the protagonists.
The city hosts a World Heritage monument in 2011, the church of St. Sophia, inserted in the serial site "Lombards in Italy: places of power".
The city of Samnite origins presents today testimony from the Roman and Lombard: above all the Arch of Trajan and the Castle, which you can see walking the streets downtown that will lead us finally to visit the Museum of the Sannio.
